Keep the tile.
Renew the finish.

Dated color, staining or a worn finish can make a bathroom feel ready for replacement even when the underlying tile is suitable to keep. Reglazing, also called refinishing or resurfacing, applies a new coating to a prepared surface.

We assess ceramic wall tile and bathtub surrounds before recommending the work. You can discuss the tile on its own or the bathtub and surrounding tile together. See more real refinishing project photos.

Changing the layout or replacing damaged backing is a different project. Reglazing refreshes the finish on the existing surface.

Plan the work

Tile reglazing.
Clear starting prices.

The amount of tile, its condition and any existing coating affect preparation and the final estimate.

Ceramic tile refinishing

Starting at $10 per square foot. Send photos of the full tile area and its approximate dimensions. Include close views of chips, grout problems or an older coating.

Bathtub and tile surround

Starting at $800. Discuss refinishing the bathtub and its surrounding wall tile together. The size of the surround and the preparation needed affect the scope.

Your bathroom needs its own quote.

Starting prices are not a fixed price for every project. Surface repairs, stripping, size and access can change the estimate. Compare all refinishing services and prices or request a tile estimate.

Before, during and after

A finish starts
with preparation.

1. Assess the surface

Tell us whether the tile was coated before, where the wear is and whether any tile is loose. We discuss what is suitable to refinish and what needs attention first.

2. Protect and prepare

The surrounding space is protected and the existing surface is prepared for its new coating. A failing older coating can require additional removal and preparation.

3. Refinish the agreed surfaces

The work follows the area and preparation discussed in your estimate. Tell us whether you want the tub included so both surfaces can be considered together.

4. Allow the coating to cure

Plan for a cure time of 48 to 72 hours unless we give different instructions for your project. Follow the provided care guidance before cleaning or using the refinished area.

A new finish does not repair a leak.

Loose tile, water leaks and damaged backing need to be addressed before a cosmetic coating. Include those issues in your inquiry so the preparation and scope can be discussed clearly.

Your questions.

Call (215) 459-4177 or send your project details.

Is tile reglazing the same as replacing tile?

No. Reglazing renews the finish on suitable existing tile. Replacement changes the tile itself and may involve work behind it. We assess the current condition before recommending refinishing.

Can you reglaze tile that was coated before?

The older coating and the underlying tile need to be assessed first. Peeling or failing finishes can require additional stripping and preparation. Send close photos of those areas as well as a picture of the whole surround.

How soon can I use the refinished surround?

Plan for 48 to 72 hours of curing unless your project instructions say otherwise. Keep to the cure time and cleaning guidance provided for your finish. Our care tips and free PDF guide explain ongoing care.

What should I send for a tile refinishing quote?

Send your town or ZIP code, photos of the full tile area, approximate dimensions and close photos of damage or an existing coating. Let us know whether the bathtub is part of the project and whether the area is currently in use.
